Namada’s mission is to promote data protection and the freedom to reveal across the multichain landscape. Today we’re stuck in a world where that freedom doesn’t exist in any meaningful way – where a technology built for individual sovereignty has become another tool in the surveillance arsenal, eroding our fundamental rights and freedom of expression.
Sharing information is a fundamental part of our daily lives. From buying a coffee to meeting a new person or choosing what to wear, in every decision and interaction we have, we choose which parts of ourselves we share with others.
But with public blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum, your only choice is between broadcasting your personally identifiable data to the world and not using them at all. Namada is building technology for a future where individuals and communities are empowered with full control over their sensitive data and the autonomy to reveal as necessary.
This is not a fringe benefit or a ‘nice to have.’ It’s an absolute necessity, and it’s inevitable.
Providing users of blockchains, applications, and assets with sovereignty over their own personal data is needed both for widespread adoption and to bring the industry in line with data protection rights. Without the choice over which data to reveal, for what purposes and to whom, many potential users of Web3 are left waiting on the sidelines.
We are not alone
This mission is not unique to Namada. Many, both within and external to the Web3 space, are working to make data sovereignty a reality. But this is no small feat and there’s a lot of work to be done. If the Namada community wants to bring its vision to fruition, it’s crucial that we combine efforts and work together with others who are also pursuing it.
The stakes are too high. We can't afford to go it alone.
This is the idea behind the concept of the Shielded Ecosystem: a mapping of collaborators not just around Namada’s tech stack, but inclusive of projects that share the same broader mission and vision. The Shielded Ecosystem is about mission-driven collaboration around a higher purpose by mutually aligned projects, ecosystems, communities, organizations, and initiatives.
The new Shielded Ecosystem page, launched today, currently features 75+ shielding-aligned builders, validators, and broader community members, including Namada RPGF recipients. This list is not exhaustive and

Working on expanding the reach and impact of shielding technology? Integrating with Namada or running a Namada validator? Aligned with the mission of bringing the freedom to reveal to the digital tools and systems we use every day? Visit the Shielded Ecosystem page and submit your info to join and be featured there.
By continuing to grow the Shielded Ecosystem and creating opportunities for continued collaboration around shared values, we can help make the promise of data sovereignty for users of digital systems a reality.
This mission is critical, and its realization is long overdue. The freedom to reveal is crucial for preserving autonomy and dignity in the digital era. If you’re aligned with this goal, please join the Namada community in helping push the frontiers of data protection as a public good.
